Why should I choose VGdance?

It may seem overwhelming at first to think of dancing with a professional partner, and you may wonder if you will look unskilled in comparison.  This is not the case.  I work with students at all skill levels and, perhaps unlike another partner, I will always adapt my dancing to match yours—another benefit of pro/am! There are many different stages in learning to dance and as you move from one stage to another, I will adjust my own dancing to move with you.  When I perform with my students, I believe that my dancing, teaching, and ability to match my student is part of what makes it enjoyable for those watching—so it always in my interest to do it well. That said, my main job is always to help you achieve your goals, while making sure you look and feel your best doing it!

Learning to dance, even partnered dancing, is a very individual process.  I understand the unique challenges experienced by students who only begin learning to dance as adults. Bodies and dancers are very different and how one person experiences and perceives physical sensations felt while dancing may be very different from another.  My experience teaching Pro/am has led me to develop a deep understanding of dancing for both genders as well as an ability to explain steps and technique in a variety of different ways.  This allows me to be more versatile as an instructor and better able to adapt to each individual student.

Learning dance through pro/am is a unique and different process from learning with an amateur partner.  Through my experience teaching pro/am, I have developed a very precise syllabus that allows students working with me to develop competently, efficiently, and productively and also achieves the correct balance between my desire as an instructor to teach and see my students improve, and my student’s desire to enjoy dancing.  Learning through pro/am with me, you will experience both!

I will always provide a strong example for you to work towards and my already developed partnering skills will help make transitions through steps and technique easier.  Additionally, you are able to set the pace of learning with me without having to depend on the skill level and learning pace of an amateur partner.
